Finding the Perfect Sleep Temperature
You may not even realize it’s happening, but the climate you maintain when you’re sleeping can actually impact the quality of your rest. If your temperature is too high or too low, it can cause you to wake up throughout the night or struggle to find deeper rest. Fortunately, you can avoid these issues by trying out certain things to find your optimal sleep temperature.
Adjust the Thermostat
The simplest way to find your optimal sleep temperature is by adjusting the temperature on your thermostat. Start with a setting between 60 and 67-degrees Fahrenheit, as this is the most common range that people find their best sleep. See if you get high-quality, restful sleep in that temperature range. If you don’t, gradually adjust it in either direction until you find the sweet spot.
Turn on the Fan
If you feel that your room may be too warm when you’re trying to sleep, consider turning on a ceiling fan to cool the bedroom down. Try turning the fan to a different setting each night, and take note of whether any of the different speeds result in a more pleasant, restful evening of sleep.
Different Covers or Clothes
Sometimes the only thing standing between you and your perfect sleep temperature is too many clothes or blankets. Some people find their best sleep wearing very little with no covers, while some need to be completely bundled up. Experiment with different amounts, and see what works best for you.
